ANHAM Brings Thanksgiving to Service Members Abroad
We owe an incredible debt of gratitude to the men and women of our armed forces.
It is always a priority of ANHAM to say thank you to our troops by ensuring that they have something special and meaningful for the holidays, especially when they are away from their families, friends and loved ones.
While we can never fully appreciate the sacrifices they make every day on behalf of our country and to keep us safe, we are especially reflective and thankful for their service during the holiday season.
We realize that the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform, and the time spent away from their loved ones, are even greater and more difficult during the holiday season.
In recognition of our troops, ANHAM coordinated a special holiday menu for service personnel in Afghanistan, Kuwait, Jordan and Iraq. Planning and purchasing began in the United States in April 2016 to ensure that the special menu items arrived at ANHAM’s warehouses in Kuwait and Afghanistan with enough time remaining for the items to then be delivered to service members on site. ANHAM procured over 125,000 pounds of food items specifically for the special holiday menu, including:
- 34,760 pounds of turkey
- 32,550 pounds of beef
- 21,450 pounds of ham
- 28,980 pounds of shrimp
- 9,114 pounds of stuffing mix
The first orders were dispatched to service personnel on October 27th, 2016, and all remaining orders were delivered and completed by November 8th, 2016 — in plenty of time for the kitchen staff at each location to prepare the menu.
It is because of our troops’ sacrifices that freedom is possible. So, with a great degree of sincerity and humility, to our service men and women we say “thank you,” for all you have done and continue to do for us, for our families, for our friends and for our country.
