ANHAM Community Outreach: Renovating Muhammed Mola High School

UNICEF estimates 40 percent of children in Afghanistan are not in school, but those numbers still represent a major improvement achieved since 2002. According to the World Bank, enrollment increased from 1 million to 8.7 million between 2002 and 2016.

Another major change? Back in 2002, no girls were enrolled in formal education; boys accounted for 100 percent of the 1 million students enrolled. Today, girls account for 36 percent of enrolled students.

ANHAM renovated 29 classrooms but also supplied new desks and chairs for the classrooms, plus school backpacks that included writing books, pens and pencils.

Despite these improvements, there’s still a long way to go. Since 2014, through our community outreach program, ANHAM has stood ready to assist local communities in making sure their children will get the education they deserve.

ANHAM FZCO, the Subsistence Prime Vendor in Afghanistan, started off the 2017 community outreach program with the renovation of Muhammed Mola High School, in the Bagram District, Parwan Province of Afghanistan. Muhammed Mola has an average attendance of 600 pupils. It is the largest school refurbishment undertaken since we started in 2014.

ANHAM renovated 29 classrooms but also supplied new desks and chairs for the classrooms, plus school backpacks that included writing books, pens and pencils. Additionally, ANHAM purchased over 200 school uniforms for the poorest children attending the school.

The refurbished school was handed over on the 26 of February with ANHAM LNO in attendance as our representative. Local dignitaries, including the Bagram District Governor, expressed their gratitude to ANHAM FZCO for our continued support to the local area and in particular the focus on education for the younger population.
